Author Event – Steve Hartley – The Yorkshire Coiners
10 June 2023 @ 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM BST
Steve Hartley has history with King David Hartley, literally. A direct descendent, he’s spent more time than anyone researching the real story of the lives of his ancestors.
He’s put pen to paper to create a definitive guide to what went on in the times of David and his family and the economic context their coin clipping had on the families and much wider afield resulting in his eventual demise at the York Gallows in April 1770.
There will be an opportunity to hear Steve’s first hand account of his incredible ancestral discovery. Plus a chance to ask him questions about his extensive expertise on this fascinating part of Heptonstall history and have copies of his recently published book personally signed.
After your afternoon in the museum, you should obviously complete your visit to David and wife Grace’s graveside ‘next door’ in St Thomas’ graveyard and explore the wonderful surroundings of Heptonstall, with so much of its early history beautifully preserved and evocative of the 18c residents.
This event will mean that the museum is closed to non-ticket holders during the event.
