“If the buildings and stone setts of Heptonstall could talk, what stories they could tell!
‘Village of Memories’ embarks on a fascinating journey into the past to bring to life the many tales that emanate from long ago, uncovering much that was in danger of being forgotten.
Over many years, Nick Wilding captured local people, some of whom appeared in Alice Longstaff’s photos about how they came to be taken and then heard about some of the characters in Heptonstall’s rich history who were in danger of being forgotten.
More recently, he says that he is delighted to have been able to participate with other villagers in the reopening of the museum for the community and hopes that elements of the film will inspire others into further research into interesting aspects of a long and enduring story. “One year on from the opening, the incorporation of the museum’s season of talks will hopefully be another good reason for visiting this atmospheric building.”
It beautifully captures many stories of our local Heptonstall history, with the help of humour, intrigue and pathos from some of the colourful characters of the past and all about his love for “Old Mad Sal”.
Whether it’s your first or tenth time viewing, we guarantee you’ll love it!
