Sammy Weaver – Poetry Workshop II – Muses Within Museums
August 6 @ 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM BST
Following the success of her last workshop, Sammy Weaver has kindly offered to return to Heptonstall Museum with a second poetry workshop on the theme of ‘Muses Within Museums’.
How can museums and their exhibits be starting points for new poems? How might song be found in the muted silences of museums? How can the poetic imagination help us envisage different stories, memories and futures for our museums?
In an inspiring and supportive space, we will throw open the possibilities of how we see and write about museums. You will discover how different writers have approached this theme – its politics, curiosities and wonders. You will learn how to read a range of poems as a writer, discovering new tools and techniques as you go. Through generative writing exercises, you will come away with new writing and new ideas for discovering your own muses within both real and imagined museums.
This workshop is open to both newcomers and people who attended the first ‘Muses within Museums’ workshop ~ it is not a repeat of that first workshop, but a deepening exploration into the themes with new prompts and poems to inspire you.
Note: Workshops require a minimum of 8 for us to run. We will confirm to all participants as early as possible once confirmed numbers are reached.
