Ted Hughes’s Birthday Celebration Walk
August 19 @ 1:30 PM - 5:00 PM BST
The Elmet Trust invites you to join Nick Wilding and Ruth Crossley on a guided afternoon walk through the village of Heptonstall, visiting the settings of several Ted Hughes’s poems inspired by some of the unique places and people located there.
The walk will begin at Heptonstall Museum on Saturday 19th August at 1.30pm with a screening of Nick’s film ‘Sacred Place’ in our Undercroft building.
The film features the places of Ted’s life in Heptonstall and will set the scene for your walk around the village that bears such significance to many of his works.
The walking route will follow easy paths and there will be plenty of opportunities to rest, admire the views and discuss the poems.
Please wear sturdy walking shoes and be well-equipped for all weather – a waterproof jacket is essential!
There will be an opportunity to visit Heptonstall Museum if you wish.
The entrance fee for this is £3.00 (cash or card accepted).
