Opportunities

In anticipation of the next stage in our organisation’s development, we are looking to appoint a Museum Co-Ordinator.

About the role

This is a great opportunity to get involved with the day-to-day running of our small museum. Operating since 2023 as a registered charity, this role offers a wide variety of responsibilities, working with volunteer trustees and other front of house and research volunteers.

We aim to reopen in late May 2026 and there’s a lot to do in preparation for that. Whoever is successful, should preferably be able to start immediately.

What you’ll be doing

For a full description of the role you can access/download the full document here – Museum Co-Ordinator Vacancy

It is anticipated this role would grow with the right candidate – and that we would look to increase the hours we could offer (funded either through our increased income or project funding) and give the candidate considerable autonomy to develop aspects of the museum.

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: 20 MARCH – PLEASE APPLY BY CV, WITH A ONE-PAGE COVER LETTER TO info@heptonstallmuseumfriends.org.uk

Museum Co-Ordinator – Vacancy
Salary: 1 day/week, £5096 per year (£25,480 FTE)

Contract and hours: 1 day per week equivalent to 7 hours per week, which may be split over more than one day by agreement.

Flexibility on working pattern to be agreed on offer of employment (Will require occasional evening and weekend work).

Probation period of 1 month.

This is an initial six-month contract.

Following an evaluation of the scope of the role, the trustees intend for the role to become permanent. It is anticipated this role will grow with the right candidate and that we will work to increase the hours and responsibilities we can offer (funded either through our increased income or project funding). The successful candidate will have considerable autonomy to shape the museum’s day-to-day management and contribute to its successful development.

Place of Work: Hybrid, working remotely and at Heptonstall Museum, the balance to be agreed around operational needs, but we aim to accommodate preferred working patterns.
